TEU - Twenty-food Equivalent Unit
TEU refers to a 20-foot standard container. It is an internationally standardized unit for loading container ships. The term is also used to quantify the throughput of container terminals.
A TEU is approx. 6.06 m long, 2.4 m wide and 2.4 m high. It weighs 2,300 kg empty and can be loaded with approx. 21,000 kg. The volume of 33.2 cubic metres corresponds to 11 pallet spaces.
